Type of Service

Residential Withdrawal Management Centres

Program Description

The Kingston Withdrawal Management Centre (Level 2) offers a non-medical, 22-bed, co-ed residential service for persons (16 years or over) who are intoxicated, in withdrawal related to their substance use. Pre-admission screening with staff ensures a safe withdrawal in a non-medical setting. We offer support to our clients as well as regular monitoring of symptoms of withdrawal. Once stabilized, clients participate in weekly Grief and Loss groups (facilitated by Pastoral Care from the hospital) as well as Relapse Prevention Groups plus 12 Step meetings. Other services include: counselling to determine discharge planning and referral to other mental health and addictions facilities. The Kinston withdrawal management centre is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Admission to the Centre is contingent on bed availability.
