Addictions Treatment - Substance Abuse

Program Description

Assessment (fast-tracked), treatment planning, outpatient groups, case management. A menu of treatment options is available including information/education, counselling, residential treatment and links with prenatal and other community services. Women may receive further support with ancillary resources such as nutritional supplements and financial assistance for transportation and childcare. Services provided are holistic, woman-centered, based in best practices research, and grounded in harm reduction principles. Services are confidential and provided free of charge to women who are pregnant and/or parenting a child 0-6 months of age and who are concerned about their use of drugs (excluding tobacco in isolation) or alcohol. Involvement is voluntary.

Access Information

There are no other forms of assessment, beyond the MOHLTC-approved standardized assessment tools required to access this program. The program can be accessed by contacting any office of the four partner addiction service organizations. Self-referrals are welcome. Identifying pregnancy and/or parenting (child 0-6 months) at intake will immediately fast-track women into service. An addiction counsellor will make contact within one business day to offer support and discuss treatment options as appropriate. Financial assistance for transportation and childcare is available. Pregnancy test and vouchers are also provided as needed.
