Type of Service

Addictions Treatment - Substance Abuse

Program Description

Women Changing Paths is a treatment service for women. Our program works in a holistic and culturally responsive manner to reduce the harm of those women whose lives have been affected by their ongoing use of substances or opiates. The approach of this program is to provide women with client-centred, non-judgmental counselling based on the Stages of Change and Motivational Interviewing. The purpose is to provide women with the most appropriate, least intrusive interventions possible. It is understood that parenting and pregnant women face a number of barriers, such as childcare and transportation, to first access and then remain in counselling. To help reduce these barriers, practical supports can be provided to women to enhance their ability to receive services. We also provide support to community services though training, education, and consultation on the issues of substance use during pregnancy and parenting.
