Addictions Treatment - Substance Abuse

Program Description

A menu of treatment options is available to clients, including information/education, individual and group counselling, residential treatment, and links with prenatal and other community services. Clients attend one-hour sessions once a week or less often with an individual Umbrellas counsellor. A variety of models used in treatment including stages of change model, strengths-based, and cognitive-behavioural approaches. Individual counselling is offered to assist clients to develop skills to manage substance use and related problems, and to attain and maintain treatment goals related to substance use and other life areas. Includes activities such as relapse prevention and skill development. Written exercises may be used in treatment. Number of sessions is flexible and based upon client need. Sessions may be offered in a variety of locations according to client need including at the organization or offsite at most convenient location. Clients may attend group and individual sessions concurrently.

Access Information

Financial assistance for transportation and child supervision may be available. Pregnancy test and vouchers are also provided as needed. Counsellors are available to offer telephone support to clients throughout this stage.
