Addictions Treatment - Substance Abuse

Program Description

Outpatient assessment treatment and management of youth up to 18, who are either using or at risk for misusing alcohol or other drugs. We also see parents and siblings if indicated. Outreach, teaching and research components, with harm-reduction, open-ended format complimenting treatment. Will support youth with process addictions. Average program length varies depending on the client.

Access Information

Tools are used, but not consistently because of difficulty with the tools themselves and the problems associated with engaging the difficult and largely involuntary population. Family members can be seen on their own. Impairment is tolerated where clinically advantageous. Telephone counselling available but not preferred. Only restriction (besides a maximum age of 17) is an untreated psychosis. Medical assessments are offered in-house and mandatory.
