St. Mary's Counselling Service (SMCS) is a community-based program of St. Mary's General Hospital that provides assessment, referral, counselling, and case management for alcohol, drug or gambling problems. Individual or group counselling is available. Specialized assessment and counselling services for youth and young adults are available. Counselling services are based on a cognitive-behavioural model, strength based, client focused. Treatment is matched through stages of change model. Consultations are provided for family members or friends concerned about someone else's substance use or gambling behaviour.
